So much to tell you!

Posted on 3:18 AM by fdgdfg
Today I really do have so much to tell you and show you too! The week has gone by so quickly, it feels like the world is in fast forward.

So first of all I can now officially tell you my little secret, what I've been up to and why I've been quite busy the last few weeks... I am now officially a Georgie Love artist! Thanks to the support of the amazing Sally I have created a little collection of limited edition brooches especially for Georgie Love. Sally has created a beautiful website of amazing Australian artists, I am so excited and a little blown away to be a part of it all. Go and check out the assortment of divine goodies and you are bound to fall in love with something. So I've been busily creating my ultimate collection, choosing my favourite designs, colours and buttons, sewing like I never have before and even getting my hubby in to help me pack everything up. My little cottage has been very busy indeed.

Each little brooch has matching ribbon..

My little production line..

All packed and ready to go to Sally..

So now that I'm finished my little Georgie Love collection for the moment, I can get back to making some other new bits and pieces for my Etsy store which is feeling a little empty at the moment. Plenty to come over the next week, I'm full of ideas for Autumn so keep an eye out.

It has been days since the Paul Kelly concert but I just have to share with you some of the pictures. It was such an amazing night, a concert like I have never experienced. I just wish I could capture how surreal it was, sitting in the middle of the desert in the sand dunes with 4000 other people listening to fabulous music.

The crowd arriving..

I found the my kikki K bag was the best spot to keep my wine out of the sand.

The beautiful sunset over the kids playing on the sand hills

Paul Kelly and the band..

I hope everyone is having a fabulous week, I'll be back tomorrow with my creative space, which at the moment is a big mess so I'm off to tidy up a little and then catch up with my darling hubby who just got home from work.

Tomorrow my to do list includes: Relax, breath deeply, mark essays, read some poetry, drink some tea and try not to stress about my inbox full of emails. What does your Thursday have in store?

Much love, ribbons and lace!

Lovely mail and scraps galore!

Posted on 10:11 PM by fdgdfg
This is how every Monday should be, a sleep in and a yummy breakfast, reading lovely blogs and some sewing and designing, I just love a public holiday.

One thing that has made me frown a little is the strange behaviour of blogger this afternoon. I was very worried for a moment to see a random message pop up instead of my blog so I'm whipping up a quick post to make sure everything is working properly.

I was so excited to receive a lovely package in the mail on Friday, I just had to share my latest purchase from the fabulous RE-Read Design. Hayley makes the most gorgeous resin brooches created from old children's books and I couldn't resist this adorable little brooch that was just so me.

Sweet little package wrapped in lovely recycled book pages and string

My beautiful 'Follow Me' rabbit brooch... I hope he will lead me to wonderland

Make sure you pop over to the RE-Read design Etsy shop and blog and check out the beautiful brooches and softies on offer. I'm eye off the very cute matching owls next. There are just so many to choose from.

I've been having a fabulous time this afternoon sorting through all my lovely scraps to create a collection of new collage brooches.

'The Collector' Collage Brooch

The Collector is now in my Etsy shop and there will be more to come over the next few days. There are just so many lovely occupations and hobbies in the world, now that I've begun I want to make them all. Some of my favourites, the Oceanographer, the Librarian and the Explorer. What occupations fascinate you?

We had an amazing night under the stars last night at the Paul Kelly concert and I've got some photos to share with you as soon as I finish sewing on some buttons and brooch backs.

PS. Watch out for crazy blogger messages.

Wishing you a productive Monday, full of creative moments

One Arty Weekend!

Posted on 10:10 PM by fdgdfg
What a wonderful long weekend it has been here is Mildura. The Arts festival is in full swing and the town is a hive of activity. We had a fabulous night at the Big Screen Film Festival with hundreds of people turning out to see the film and to check out Poetic Justice Publishing. Our little shop was beautiful indeed and Clare, Moana and I had a lovely time pottering making our little spot under the old homestead look very inviting.

Our little shop under the veranda in the afternoon sunshine

Some of Moana's beautiful prints for sale

My little brooches on display..

Overall it was a very successful night although I was quite happy to get home to bed after a couple of long teaching and sewing days.

Tonight my hubby and I have treated ourselves to one of Mildura's most predominate art events of the year, the concert at the very famous Perry Sandhills. This year we are lucky enough to have Paul Kelly playing, so we have packed up our picnic, some wine and our camping chairs for a beautiful night of music under the stars.

Our very yummy picnic for this evening.

I can't wait to be amongst the crowd in the middle of the desert on such a beautiful night, hope to get some lovely photos to share. I've got plenty more to show you tomorrow and I'm really looking forward to a fabulous day of creating on a lovely and very rare Monday off work.

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend.
Happy Sunday

Shopping List Saturday..

Posted on 9:24 PM by fdgdfg
Note: Please read this post whilst listening to 1920's Jazz...

The Charleston, pearls and flapper girls.... this was the Jazz Age of the 1920s. I've always been inspired by this incredible period in culture, the dresses, the music and screen star Louise Brooks. So this shopping list is inspired by all things 20's especially the style and amazing accessories.

1. Vintage Style Roaring 20's Flapper Mannequin by nostalgiccorner
2. Louise Brooks Pop Art by galleryhidden
3. 1920s fashion, flapper -Lady in Grey Coat -Print by gint99are
4. La Mode Nouvelle by TheBrilliantMagpie
5. Art Deco Millie by matouenpeluche
6. Louise Brooks Cameo by CTessitore

Slick your hair
And wear your buckle shoes
And all that Jazz!

How I just adore all those beautiful cloche hats bob cuts and pearls. Those girls really knew how to dress. What a beautiful collection of of 1920's treasures I found on Etsy. I'm off to throw on some beads Charleston the afternoon away!

Take a moment to brew a fresh pot of tea and pop over to the fabulous Fancy Picnic to check out the other amazing Shopping Lists. The perfect Saturday afternoon..

PS. A huge thank you to Marcela over at the very lovely newly refurbished Etsy Cottage Style blog for her gorgeous feature of my work. Etsy Cottage Style is such a beautiful community of creative and talented women, come and check them out and join in the fun.

I hope everyone is having a fabulous and flirty weekend!

My creative space..

Posted on 9:14 PM by fdgdfg
There is plenty going on in the world of Sophie Isobel this week! My creative space is awash of colour, texture and creativity as I am spending every waking moment planning and creating. Between my shop at the film festival tomorrow night and lots of work on my soon to be revealed secret, my creative space could not be more packed with ribbon, buttons and brooches.

Early morning work, a new collage brooch and orders ready to be sent..

A sweet little pile awaiting brooch backs..

So my busy day continues with the countdown on to Friday night and an Aqua Aerobics session to squeeze in, I'm making the most of every moment in the day. I'm so looking forward to the long weekend. There will be a shop update very soon with some new brooches and lovely chokers so keep an eye out.

Thank you so much to Linda over at Two Pink Possums for her beautiful feature of the little custom brooch collection I made for her. Be sure to check out Linda's delightful blog and gorgeous new layout, she is just the sweetest!

Head over to Kristy at Kootoyoo to join in the fun and show off your Creative Space.

Wishing you a delightfully creative Thursday

The corners of my desk..

Posted on 10:41 PM by fdgdfg
Inspired my the ever beautiful Sparrow Salvage and her lovely studio table shots I thought might share a few of my own studio shots and the interesting little corners of my desk.

Scraps ready to be transformed..

Brooches about to be sewn..

A little safe place for lost pins..

I just love fabric and paper together.

Vintage saucer perfect for sorting buttons.

I must leave you with a fabulous treasury I was so delighted to be a part of, curated by the very sweet Anastasia at Percival Road Designs.

What a beautiful collection..

It's Wednesday and the week is definitely picking up pace. I'm very much looking forward to our first Poetic Licence event of the year at the Big Screen Film Festival on Friday night. We will be doing poetry readings and selling our wares including my brooches and artwork before a screening of Australia. Plenty of preparation and planning still to do but it is very exciting indeed.

Much love and warm thoughts for Wednesday

Inspiration on Monday..

Posted on 9:58 PM by fdgdfg
Why are Mondays always the busiest and craziest days? I thought I would take a little moment away from the chaos to share with you my three favourite things for today.

The beautiful world of interior stylist Katie Sellers

Perhaps the most amazing Tea Salon in the world Crown & Crumpet

The beautiful illustrated typography of Kate Forrester

Well I'm off to forget my to do lists for a moment and become all Zen with a little Yoga. Hope your day hasn't been as chaotic as mine. Bring on the tree pose!

PS. Thank you so much for your lovely comments on my little experimental brooch. I will definitely be creating some more very soon.

Happy inspiring Monday
