Home again as Winter sets in...

Posted on 12:49 AM by fdgdfg
I will dance wherever the wind takes me, in search for an adventure.

This weekend the cool winter breeze blew me south to Tasmania for a weekend of family, laughter and a need for warm coats. We had a beautiful celebration for Aunty Linny's 90th birthday high in the mountains of Beulah, meandered along the breath taking Table Cape and danced through the last of the Autumn leaves in Lauceston's City Park. All together a very delightful long weekend.

My sisters and I very excited to find a road named after our family!

More tales and photos to come over the next few days. With the last few weeks of term two just around the corner my world is going into overdrive. A few crazy weeks ahead and then I'm looking forward to a nice relaxing two weeks holiday. I must be off to find a nice spot by the fire and get settled in for the night to mark a huge pile of English essays. If I haven't stopped by your blog today, I will be around soon I promise. So many lovely posts to catch up on.

Much love and chilly winter evenings (where is my hot water bottle?)

My Apple Isle Adventures..

Posted on 12:31 AM by fdgdfg
I'm back and it feels like I've been gone such a long time! What a wonderful few days I've had away in the beautiful Tasmania, full of wonderful moments and adventures. I spent time with my beautiful extended family who I had not seen in over a decade, captured stunning scenery, played in Autumn leaves, danced along the beach, rummaged through amazing shops including Reliquaire, enjoyed yummy food and wine and had a all round fabulous extended weekend. I wish I could fly down every weekend, it is a place everyone must visit!

Me and my red shoes dancing with Daisies

Here are a few shots from my Apple Isle adventures..

Lots of flowers, pink and bubbles at my inspirational Great Aunt's 90th birthday.

Beautiful wildflowers in Latrobe

The amazing Autumn leaves at Belle's Parade in Latrobe

The beautiful view from the Bluff in Devonport

Hawley Beach, Devonport, the sky was just so beautiful and blue..

And of course my post would not be complete without sharing my purchases with you.. I just wish my suitcase had been bigger, there were just so many lovely things to buy!

I couldn't resist this gorgeous Gabee leather handbag, some lovely antique postcards and a very sweet 1940's copy of Alice in Wonderland.

It is wonderful to be back and I'm not doing any more adventuring for a little while so I'm looking forward to getting back to my little blog and shop and having a lovely catch up with all the wonderful people I have missed in blog land. I've had some fabulous ideas whilst travelling and can't wait to get into my studio and bring them to life over the next few weeks. A shop update to come over the weekend!

I'm off enjoy some blog reading and catch up on some orders, if I can drag myself away from staring at the beautiful pink sunset. Can't wait for Creative Space Thursday tomorrow!

Much love and happy adventures..

A flying visit and a New York surprise!

Posted on 10:20 PM by fdgdfg
I can't quite believe how quickly the last few weeks have gone! I've been up to Brisbane and back to celebrate my sister's 21st birthday, almost finished week two of the term and it's already February! Doesn't time fly when you are having fun!

I had the most fabulous weekend in Brisbane with a wonderful party on Saturday night for my beautiful sister. As I mentioned in my last post the theme was Black and White and we decked the house and ourselves out to match the theme. We also had a big surprise in store for my sister as we handed her a beautiful black and white baroque box. Inside was a ticket to New York from the whole family. She was totally shocked and thrilled and is already making travel plans!

All together an amazing night of family, celebrations, dancing and champagne! Here are a few photos of our celebrations..

My sisters and I in our black and white,
I made my rosette especially for the occasion.

The beautiful backyard...

The girls strike a pose..

Now I'm back after my weekend it's back down to business, I will be busy making custom orders over the next few nights and then I can't wait to get into making a fabulous new batch of brooches and mixed media pendants.

I'm also very excited that the fabulous Nicole Tattersal is having a giveaway over at her blog of one of my mixed media artworks. The piece is called 'A tale of two cities' and pays homage to the works of the amazing Charles Dickens.

'A tale of Two Cities'

Pop over to her blog check out the giveaway for your chance to win this mixed media original I created especially for the giveaway. Entries close on Friday 6 February 2009, 10pm so get in quick.

Well I'm off to watch set up all my bits and pieces in front of the TV so I can create and watch 'So you think you can dance'. What a fun night!

Much love and happy Wednesday!

PS. A big thank you to Polly Danger for the lovely feature of my terrarium pendant and I heart Mr. Darcy brooch on her beautiful blog. Her blog and Etsy shop are a must to check out for beautiful aprons and crafty goodness.

The young lovers...

Posted on 2:18 AM by fdgdfg
Just a quick post to say a big congratulations to my grandparents who are celebrating their 62nd wedding anniversary today.

They love is a constant inspiration in my life. I am always reminded to love unconditionally and never take a moment for granted..

And these words say it all..

Our love affair, may it always be
A flame to burn through eternity
So take my hand with a fervent prayer
That we may live and we may share
A love affair to remember.....

Much love to you both..

Congratulations and celebrations are in order for a few people this week.

Isn't he adorable!
Thank you to Matt for the gorgeous photo!

In other news, congratulations to Paul my brother in law for his appearance on the New Inventors! The Snake Pick was a huge success and is a sure bet for the People's favourite! For more info check out the website.

One more celebration for my grandmother, Happy Birthday for yesterday Nan! Sending you much love. Wish I was there to have a champagne with everyone! She is an incredible woman who inspires me everyday.

Mum, Nan and I together.

Well I best be off to mark some essays so I will have time this afternoon to try my hand at making another satchel.

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekends x

The Long Weekend..

Posted on 12:27 AM by fdgdfg
You have got to love a long weekend, just when you think its over there is a whole lovely day to be had. Well I have lots to show and tell this week so I will jump straight in..

First of all may I just say how cold it has been here today, according to the thermometer outside it reached a top of 11 degrees! It has rained for most of the day, yes it actually rained! As much as I dislike being cold I can't help but enjoy the smell of the rain and and wood burning on open fires. I just love looking at all the little chimneys on the horizon.

These are a couple of my favourite things I can see from my backyard at the moment.

We are not quite sure what kind of fruit this is but we have a tree in the backyard full of it.

My favourite little chimney on the next door neighbours shed.

It has been a perfect weekend for reading, writing and sewing and drinking tea... It is amazing just how inspiring a little rain can be.

First the tea then a trip to the library.

After spending much of my time these days reading and analysing books I realised the need to stop reading B grade girly novels and begin a path of reading and attempting to understand great literature of the world. I began with Pride and Prejudice and now I have gone back for a little more Austen and a whole lot of Tolstoy.

A friend from work recommended Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy so I grabbed it from the local library along with Northanger Abbey and The Harp Lesson. I have made a resolution to watch less TV and read much more, which I may need to do in order to get thought these!

Besides loaning half the library I have been enjoying some fantastic art from some amazing blogs which I have to show you!

My first favourite little blog is Cozy Little Whimsy Nook beautiful art, ladies and owls by Marjorie otherwise known Marmee Craft. Her images are just delightful and she has just been published in my favourite magazine 'Frankie'. Here are a few of my favourite pieces.

'The Green Swell'
She reminds me of Elizabeth Bennet

'The Darling Nest'
What a lovely accessory!

My next lovely blog is an amazing Melbourne artist Catherine Campbell who hides out at My Folk Lover. Her delightful ladies have graced the pages of many a magazine and is currently in this month's Frankie magazine showing off her lovely little house and giant bunny rabbit! I just adore her latest series of work Over the Sea.

They remind me of how much I miss the ocean.

Well I am off to upload my photographs of the very sweet project satchel I made for by best friend today. I will post them very soon.

For now I must leave you with some exciting news. My brother in law is going to be on The New Inventors TV show on the ABC on Wednesday the 30th of April. He has invented a crazy new guitar pick and my adorable little niece even got to be a part of the show!

Here he is on the website..

Congratulations Paul!

Hope every has had a lovely weekend! xx
