My Place & Yours..Shoes

Posted on 8:42 PM by fdgdfg
Shoes, how I them them indeed.. I have vivid memories of sneaking into my mother's cupboard to try on all her lovely shoes. My favourites were a pair of black velvet heels with fabulous little laces down the front. How I wish she had kept them. Here is a small part of my shoe collection, some of my very favourites.

Some new, a few second hand including my lovely vintage brown heels that feature in my little profile image. My search for beautiful red shoes is ongoing and one day I will find the perfect pair of red heels. Top left are my wedding shoes, they are so lovely, but got a little dirty during our wedding photos. I'm thinking of dyeing them black so I can wear them again.

When I sat all my shoes together I noticed how much I love buckles, bows and bling. My Toni Bianco ballet flats complete with sparkly skulls always make me smile. I can't wait until they come back in stock so I can buy them in black too.

So these are my favourite shoes, I can't wait to see yours. Pop over to Punky & Me to join the fun and show off your heels, sandals and ballet flats.

Much Love

My Place & Yours..What I'm Reading

Posted on 9:33 PM by fdgdfg
I'm so delighted to that My Place & Yours found a new home over at Punky and Me and the first theme is one of my favourite past times, reading. So at the moment I'm reading The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society and I've really enjoyed it. I've only got a few pages to go, so I'm up for suggestions of what to read next, I'm up to my ears in Year 12 English and Literature texts for work so something light and charming would be perfect. I'm also enjoying this month's Country Style, which includes a fabulous tote bag pattern I can't wait to try.

Pop over to Punky and Me to join the in fun of the new look My Place & Yours.

PS. If you would like to see the rainbow inspired outfit I came up with for the delightful Hen's Party lunch, check it out here.

My Place & Yours..Five Minutes Peace

Posted on 11:55 PM by fdgdfg
This week's My Place and Yours theme has been thought up by the fabulous Pilgim and it is just glorious! For how doesn't want 'Just Five Minutes Peace' in their ever exciting and busy lives.

My favourite spot in the world to get five minutes peace, my very own sanctuary, is my lovely little vintage desk and Louis XV style chair. It is in the perfect spot by the front window and when the afternoon sunshine streams in, there is no place I would rather be, curled up with one of my favourite books, a letter or two and my journal.

My little desk and chair.. It is a little bare at the moment because we are moving into our new cottage on Friday but it's one of the last parts of my world I will pack up. I love to fill the little shelves with beautiful books, letters, vintage postcards and ink bottles.

My moleskine journal, a very special place to catch a moment in time, somewhere I always feel at home.

Lovely letters from my dear girls Courtney and Tara.. I can't wait to finish up work for the year on Wednesday so I can write letters all summer long.

And don't think it's just us hard working humans that enjoy five minutes of peace. My delightful Olive also enjoys her kitten peace and quiet too. Yesterday I was searching the whole house for Olive, when finally my hubby found her, in her new favourite spot... cuddled up on the bed, hiding inside my dressing gown.

Olive's very own sanctuary.. Looks like I'll be finding myself a new dressing gown.

Make sure you pop over to Pip's and check out everyone's lovely little favourite spots for that very important five minutes peace and make sure you join in too!

PS. Just a reminder I will be closing my Etsy shop at midnight tonight and will reopen after Christmas, once I'm all settled in to my new studio.

Much love and happy Monday

My Place & Yours.. My Collection

Posted on 11:19 PM by fdgdfg
What a fabulous theme this week for My Place and Yours... Collections! Just so delightful, thank you Kate! I am indeed a bowerbird by nature and my collections often adorn my blog pages. I'm constantly searching for fascinating items to collect and often spend my weekends meandering through, antique and second hand shops when I have a 'feeling' there might be delights about.

My largest collection in many senses is of course my typewriters. It all started years ago when I bought a cheap 1970's portable from a garage sale. The next thing I knew I was using this little old typewriter so much I ran it out of ink, so I began to search for another. It was a delightful Saturday morning at my favourite antique shop that I spotted the most beautiful typewriter I had ever seen. At that moment I knew I just had to begin a collection.

My five oldest typewriters, including my very favourite Remington circa 1908. I can't wait to move into our lovely new cottage, my hubby has promised to build a cabinet to fit my collection in.

Whilst on the look out for typewriters, I'm also in search of teacups and ink bottles, two of my favourite 'little things' to collect.

Some of my teacups, the rest are scattered around the house holding buttons, earrings, flowers and of course tea!

I've been given most of my current tea cup collection from my grandmother's pieces. I love finding cups that are just a little bit quirky and stand out from the crowd. I always love a teacup with a fascinating handle. When I have a little more space, teapots are my next on my list.

My ink bottle stash began with my love for old quills and daydreams of sitting at a little desk in the attic and writing a manuscript just like Jo March from Little Women. I'm drawn to bottles that have a tale to tell with unusual shapes, text and lids.

As Sibella Court says, 'I call myself a keeper of collections'. I find pieces of yesteryear and bring them back together, telling tall tales and love stories along the way.

Pop over to Pip at Meet me at Mikes to enjoy all the other beautiful collections and inspire the bowerbird within you.

Much love and happy collecting

My Place & Yours..Blog HQ

Posted on 5:10 PM by fdgdfg
Another delightful Sunday morning here in Mildura, although I'm not sure how long it is going to last. With a top of 40 degrees expected today it seems Summer has certainly arrived. I think I'll make the most of the sunshine this morning and find somewhere cool to retreat this afternoon. I'm thinking a film or two perhaps. On this long weekend, I'm just loving this week's 'My Place and Yours' meme and what a fab theme, chosen by the delightful Ninon, 'Blog Headquarters'.

So here is my Blog HQ... It is a little nook in my studio, inspired by an article in Real Living magazine a few months back. This wee bookshelf is the perfect spot for storing all my bits and pieces and also doubles as a great desk space.

The shelf stores my favourite books and images, also my new little 'Box Brownie' I found last week at Rose Harvest as well as a little collection of envelopes that I love to keep from far away places.

The middle shelf is a constantly changing art gallery of lovely cards, collages and photographs. A recent addition was the little inspiration board which is currently adorned with the sweet colours of Spring.

So that's my little Blog HQ, I can't wait to see yours! Pop over the Pip's to play along.

I'm off to spend the rest of the morning creating, I think a little crochet to begin with and then onto some new pieces for my Etsy shop. Hopefully I can get a little bit done before the heat kicks in this afternoon. Wishing you a wonderful Sunday.

Much love

My Place & Yours.. Bedside

Posted on 6:26 PM by fdgdfg
Sundays are just the sweetest days.. I can't get enough of the glorious morning sunshine, delightful pages of one of my favourite reads and a lovely pot or two of Lady Grey tea.

So this week the My Place & Yours theme, 'Bedside' has been selected by Lexi at pottymouthmama and what a gorgeous theme it is.. I find the bedside a fascinating and intimate look into the soul, I've kept a bedside table since I was a little girl, full of all my favourite trinkets and good luck charms. A box for the tooth fairy, a shell from the beach, my bedside was the very beginnings of my bowerbird soul. These days not much has changed...

By our bedside are a pair of vintage bedside tables given to us a few years ago by my grandparents friends. They are chipped and stained by there is something very sweet about them. Under the table is a vintage beauty case which was given to me on my 21st.

I love silver, pearl and onyx jewellery and keep my everyday pieces together so they are easy to find in the morning for work. I love the little Moet & Chandon bottle a gift for my 18th, perfect for holding bracelets. The little cherub has taken pride of place on my bedside since I was eight, she is very special indeed. The little brass Buddha is my mum's, although I somehow adopted him sometime during my teens. In the frame, one of my favourite photos from our wedding day.

Of course my bedside would not be complete without a novel or two and my journal. Writing and reading late at night is a must after a busy day. The lovely old book is a hymn book which belonged to my great Aunt, there is something very enchanting about its worn pages. On top one of my favourite Royal Albert teacups which contains a little collection of stones from long beach walks. It also doubles as the perfect spot to display rings, earring and store the odd bobby pin or two.

To play along with this week's delightful theme, pop over to Pip's.

I hope you are having a lovely Sunday, I'm off to make myself another pot of tea and spend a little longer enjoying the sunshine, with a stash of magazines and some glue and scissors in toe.

Much love and memories

My Place & Yours..

Posted on 10:36 PM by fdgdfg
I awoke this morning to find Olive in her new favourite spot, having a delightful time exploring her favourite blogs and I noticed she had stumbled across a fabulous new post on 'Meet me at Mikes'. Pip has started the sweetest meme, called My Place & Yours. It's perfect for the weekends, capturing moments and seeing the world through Sunday afternoon eyes. When I saw it appear on my screen this morning, thanks to Olive and her creative typing, I just couldn't resist joining in.

This week's theme is 'On the Shelf', so after a quick wander around the house, searching for the right shelf, I came back to my great grandmother's cabinet in my studio, which holds some of my favourite things..

On my shelf, underneath my old singer sewing machine, are my favourite journals and inspiration books, vintage tea pot and my Holga camera.

To play along with this delightful new meme, pop over to Pip's.

Also remember to enter my Etsy anniversary giveaway, just comment on yesterday's post to go into the running to win. Thank you so much to those lovely ladies who have already entered, it is so sweet to read about where your heart belongs.

I'm off to finish some marking and perhaps take a moment to have a cup of tea in the afternoon sunshine.

Happy Sunday
Much love
