My Creative Space..

Posted on 12:30 PM by fdgdfg
Inspired by the beautiful maple tree in my backyard and the sweet little signs that Autumn may just be on its way, I'm already busy dreaming up new ideas inspired by the colder months ahead.

This is a wee prototype for a scarf I am working on ready for Autumn.

Featuring lovely cotton fabrics and backed with soft denim, I'm looking forward to wearing and making these to sell in my little Etsy shop over the coming months.

As I was taking these shots of Lucy (my lovely vintage mannequin) in the garden, I couldn't resist showing you another part of my creative space, my herb bucket.

We planted this basil in an old metal bucket when we first moved in and I just can't believe how much its grown in a few short weeks, it smells just fabulous. I really looking forward to creating our proper herb and veggie garden in the coming months.

And back inside on my desk..

Lovely magazine clippings in need of some glue and a moleskine, my wee granny squares are slowly growing in numbers and a lovely book I found in the library at work today, The Museum of Mary Child by Cassandra Golds.

To see all the beautiful creative spaces near and far pop over and visit the lovely Kirsty.

Much Love

My Creative Space..

It is so lovely to be back playing along with the fabulous Kootooyoo's, My Creative Space for another creative year. I always enjoy checking out what people are up to and sharing the mess I am currently making. To begin the year I'm excited to share my new little studio. I'm forever adding to it, finding new ways to store all my bits and pieces, so this is what my creative space looks like today.

My new little studio space.. I've come up with an idea of storing all my fabric in a lovely wicker basket so it's nice and easy to access.

My favourite pair of vintage shoes, op-shopped of course, are a little delicate to wear, so now they take pride of place onto of my library card cabinet along side, a scissor holding teapot and a new addition.. inspired by my post last week.. all my white buttons now stored in a vintage jar.

Brooches ready for buttons, on their way to Handmade Heaven sit in front of my ever growing inspiration board, full of lovely things. One of my favourite pieces in my studio, is an original Nicole Tattersall painting my hubby bought me (it's the lovely girl with the umbrella).

Wishing you a lovely Thursday, now known as Creative Space day..
To play along pop over to the Creative Queen herself, Kirsty.

A little Christmas cheer has come skipping through my creative space this week. Cherry red and snow flake white, dance amongst books and typewriters as I dream of a distant white Christmas whilst finding my reality in the middle of a heatwave...

My creative space, getting ready for Christmas... with inspiration from the beautiful new Inside Out Christmas Edition, vintage books, feathers and fabric.

I was so delighted yesterday to find in my mailbox... a fabulous sparkling copy Keri Smith's new book This is not a Book. Oh it is just so much fun!

I found this beautiful stack of goodies at Rose Harvest last weekend and I just couldn't resist. It reminds me of a lovely collection of vintage school books.

A little stash of fabric ready to be transformed into decorations and other Christmas delights.
Join the creative space fun with the Queen of creativity Kirsty!

I hope those of you in my part of the world are finding a way to keep cool and those of you enjoy the beginnings of a white Christmas, oh how I would love to join you. Wishing you all a lovely and creative Thursday.

My Creative Space..

Posted on 1:10 AM by fdgdfg
This week my creative space is more a whole stack of ideas in my mind rather than a chaotic desk. With only one more day until the weekend and I can't wait for some free time to mess up my studio and create some lovely Christmas decorations and work on my softie for Mirabel. But whilst I wait for a Saturday to arrive, I'm finding a few moments in my day to enjoy the lovely things in life, including a spot of crochet. As my ideas are yet to hit the page, my creative space this week contains my two new favourite things..

My favourite fabric, a recent purchase from Funky Fabrix and perhaps the most delightful and kooky shoes I own, my fabulous new pair of Tony Bianco ballet flats.

Join the creative space fun with the Queen of creativity Kirsty!

I hope your Thursday has been full of creativity and delightful moments. My thought for the day... take note of the little things.

My Creative Space..

How quickly has Thursday come around again? With only six weeks left of the school year, my week has been bursting with marking, preparing students for exams, meeting and everything in between. It's certainly a exciting and busy time of the year. In my creative space this week, I'm getting ready for this week's fabulous extra long weekend. I am so looking forward to four wonderful creative days, thank you Melbourne Cup!

My desk ready for a weekend of creating.. full of lovely new fabric, magazines and an amazing 1920's typewriter...

On my lovely trip to Rose Harvest last weekend my fabulous hubby found this amazing 1926 Royal Typewriter in the back shed. It has seen better days but has such charm and character, it is a lovely addition to my ever growing collection..

I also stumbled upon this lovely vintage cutlery drawer, which I've transformed into an organiser for my desk. Perfect for tags, envelopes and postcards.

A creative weekend would not be complete without some lovely reading material.. I love this time of month when all the gorgeous new magazines are on sale. I've been madly filling my new moleskine with collages and words.

I'm so excited that my Funky Fabrix order has arrived just in time for the weekend. I just love the lovely bright colours, spots and stripes and can't wait to get sewing. If you are looking for amazing fabric, you can't go past Funky Fabrix.

Join the creative space fun with the Queen of creativity Kirsty!

Wishing you a fabulous Thursday, full of wonderful Spring or Autumn moments. With Halloween just around the corner I'm looking forward to some interesting lessons tomorrow, I'm certainly hoping for more treats than tricks...we shall see.

Summer is well and truly on its way around here. It is so lovely to finally have some warm days and long afternoons with the sun staying around long into the evening. It's the perfect time of day to to spend in the studio creating up a storm. My creative space this week, a little mixture of bits and pieces in the making and getting for a very creative weekend.

On my desk, my lovely new typewriter I found at my favourite junk shop, some brooches ready to be finished and my new moleskine awaiting some ink.

My delightful new Remington circa 1952.. I really do need to find a spot for all of my typewriters.

Brooches lined up ready for something to heart..

A gorgeous book I'm currently reading, The Dressmaker by Rosalie Ham

Olive seems to like my new typewriter as much as I do...

Another very busy week in my little creative space, with exciting moments around every corner. When it rains, it really does pour and all you can do it soak it all up. With my year 12 classes in exam preparation, my Etsy anniversary on Saturday and a very excitable kitten for company, life is certainly creative and chaotic at the moment.

My creative space filled with lovely fabric for new brooches, some of my favourite books and new moleskine I can't wait to begin..

Inspiring.. The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett, Urgent 2nd Class by Nick Bantock and The Secret Staircase by Jill Barklem.

A little stack of brooches, ready to be photographed for my little Etsy shop..

I can't wait until my first Etsy Anniversary on Saturday having a big shop stocking and a giveaway to celebrate. I'm also looking forward to taking some photos tomorrow afternoon at the local show. I'm fascinated by the old world circus and side show alley images so hopefully when at dusk I'll be able to capture some interesting shots.

Wishing you a wonderful and creative Thursday!

My Creative Space..

I feel like it has been so long since I have posted and it is so lovely to be back. I'm finally home after a lovely holiday in Brisbane full of fabulous shopping, dress ups and having a wonderful time with family and friends. Now the countdown is on for Term 4 and it's all very exciting, with my year 12s about to do their end of year exams, we are already on the countdown until Christmas holidays and I'm really excited about my upcoming first year Etsy Anniversary and new collections for Spring and Summer. So my creative space this week is all about inspiration, bits and pieces I found whilst in Brisbane and my delightful new friend.

My desk is full of Spring inspiration today, pages from Country Style magazine, fresh flowers from my garden, pages from Enid Blyton's Faraway Tree and a gorgeous fairy adorned singlet by Pani.

Beautiful Roses and Irises I found growing wildly in my garden when I got back. I just love having gorgeous flowers blossoming just outside my window.

I just love this sweet little notebook I found at Smiggle. Perfect for keeping all of my daily adventures in.

And another lovely purchase from the fabulous Retro Metro in Paddington, a delightful spring dress, original 1970's.

And last but by no means least my beautiful and favourite new friend..

Olive..
We got Olive yesterday afternoon and she is just the sweetest, most affectionate little thing. She has already found the perfect spot to chill out on the bookshelf and will find a lap to snuggle into whenever she can. Too cute!

Wishing you a wonderful Thursday, its so lovely to be back and I can't wait to join in the rest of Blogtoberfest. Right now, I'm off to cuddle up on the couch and watch the new episode of Glee.

Much love

Right now I should be packing, I really should... I have an empty suitcase and I'm off to Brisbane at 6:35am tomorrow morning for a wee little holiday. Very exciting indeed! So my creative space this week, is a little bit of chaos on my desk as I pack my studio up into a box to take with me on holiday.

My desk full of Spring colour, I'm loving gorgeous shades of orange and lots of bright buttons!

I was so delighted to open my mail box the other day to find my gorgeous wedding anniversary present, a beautiful handmade necklace from the very talented Penny from Little Brown Sparrow. I just adore the little toy key and the three sweet hearts to symbolise our three years together. Penny was also lovely enough to include one of her beautiful brooches as an extra gift. So sweet! If you haven't already you must pop over to Penny's beautiful blog and check out her fabulous Etsy shops. She is one of my very favourite creators.

A splash of buttons! Sorting for my button box.

Inspired by the very lovely Liz from Lino Forest, I'm loving gorgeous shades orange. Lillies, vintage hard covers and a very cute little Penguin Pride and Prejudice notebook.

Join the creative space fun with the Queen of creativity Kirsty!

Wishing you a delightful creative Thursday, I'm off to watch Glee and finally get a moment to pack my bag. I'm taking my lap top with me to Brisbane so I can blog and will also be keeping my little Etsy shop open and be stocking with some lovely new bits and pieces while I'm away. Can't wait to have some free time to bring my new ideas to life.

Much love and creative moments

Not quite my usual creative space this week as I madly rush to finish my reports for work and plan the trip to Melbourne this weekend for the State finals of Tournament of Minds. If life could not get any busier, with marking also over flowing out of my handbag and my year 12's stressing about their looming exams, the school ball is on tomorrow night, the ultimate event of the year for the students and an opportunity for everyone to dress up, kick up their heels and remember just how to dance the cha cha and the two step.

My creative space... my ball outfit! This year's theme is Mod.

My dress.. not the classic ball dress but something a little bit fun, a touch tribal and wee bit mod.

And what's a dress without accessories, killer heels from the fabulous Tony Bianco and a sweet little clutch from Dotti.

Join the creative space fun with the Queen of creativity Kirsty!

Wishing you a fabulous Thursday, hope you are having a delightful and creative week whatever you are up to. I'm off to spend a few moments relaxing on my new giant granny square project.

Much love and dancing

Spring afternoons just make my heart sing. The delightful scent of roses and soft afternoon sunlight streaming in my studio window makes for a very inspiring afternoon.

My creative space, beautiful hot pink roses (I just can't resist the beautiful roses at the moment), magazines and fabric samples for my softie for Mirabel.

I was delighted to receive this fabulous invitation to my gorgeous Auntie's 60th birthday party. I just adore this photo of her and can't wait to dress up for the 60's themed party next month.

A lovely stash of fabulous magazines and clippings ready to go into my journal...

Also on my desk some lovely hard cover books, ready to be created into some new artworks and book blossom brooches and a gorgeous tote bag from the fabulous Kim from Udessi. She is super sweet and sent me this gorgeous tote just because!

Join the creative space fun with the Queen of creativity Kirsty!

Hope you are having a delightful and creative Thursday! I'm off to Melbourne for the day tomorrow for a Media teachers conference, looking forward to wandering around the City on a lovely Spring day, hope I will have time for just a spot of shopping too!

Much love and roses

So, many lunch time and after school rehearsals taking place, last minute script changes and lots of laughter.

Don't you just love when all the lovely things you have been waiting for in the mail arrive on one day! It was like Christmas this afternoon for me as opened parcels and jumped up and down like a little kid. A few weeks ago I ordered a beautiful Market Bag from Moop and it arrived this afternoon. I'm totally in love! It is even more gorgeous in real life and I'm now tackling the exciting task of shifting bags. Who knew I carried half my life and an entire stationary supplies store in my handbag.

My new handbag, I've named 'Rose'

My creative space - moving the contents of my bag! Other exciting new things to put into my bag include, a lovely new novel from my auntie which I also received in the mail today and my lovely new mobile phone which I can't wait to play with.

Envelopes and a stash of bits and pieces to add to Courtney's letters.

My lovely new Nokia E71, gorgeous new book 'The Secret Scripture' and my journal.

Can't wait to take my new bag out tomorrow, it has so many little pockets and spots for everything, I will never lose anything to the infinity of my bag again. I hope your Thursday has been filled with lovely surprises too. Head over to the wonderful Kirsty to join in the Creative Space fun and make sure you pop over to Megan's a check out all the beautiful photos in August.

PS. Only three days left to enter my little giveaway!

Much love and delightful Moop bags!

I love that in the busiest, most hectic moments of your life you always have ideas. It's like a little part of your creative soul wakes up when you are really busy and decides to come out and play. I have had wonderful and bustling week creating a new collection of brooches for Georgie Love which are available now and I've also been busy with new and crazy ideas. My creative space changes daily and this afternoon it looks like this...

Inspiration board and journal, my lovely vintage box filled with letters from Courtney, new projects and a stash of books ready to be recreated.

My lovely friends at Readings have done it again, they manage to have every book I could ever dream of and they deliver to my mail box in days. So fabulous! I'm totally in love with this amazing little book, Paris: Made by Hand written by the gorgeous Pia Jane Bijerk.

A new little collection of brooches I am working on for Spring, featuring flowers handmade from vintage book spines. They are the 'Book Blossoms'.

Much achieved this week, but as always plenty more to be done. I was very much hoping to reopen my Etsy shop this Saturday, but due to some sneaky new ideas blooming and not quite enough hours in the day I will be reopening on Sunday instead, with lots of new pieces and a giveaway. Be sure to stop by.

Wishing you a lovely Thursday, make sure you head over to the wonderful Kirsty to join in the fun and show of your own creative space. Also you pop over to Megan's a check out all the lovely photos in August.

Much love and thoughts of Spring

My Creative Space..

After spending a few days with a lovely tidy studio I thought it was time to mess it up again! My creative space this week is all about inspiration and I have spent the last few days bringing together all my ideas for my new shop collections which I'm very excited about. Stacks of magazines, article clippings and swatches of fabric line my desk as I scribble on giant post it notes to get all my ideas out of my head and onto the page.

My creative space - my journals, plenty of lovely magazine clippings to stick in, a little box of ribbon and lace, my very cute tea pot and a new inspiration board filled with images for my new collections.

My 'take everywhere because you never know when inspiration may strike' journal. Check out Keri Smith if you want to be inspired to never again live without a journal.

The Library fairies visited me again this morning with a beautiful bag of ribbon and lace. I just love sorting through all the pieces and dreaming up ways to give them new lives.

I'm also very excited to be an official member of the Udessi family. Kim, the wonderful mind behind Udessi has put together a beautiful online gallery and boutique market stall featuring some incredibly talented artists and I'm so delighted to join the team. Pop over to the Udessi gallery to check out their exclusive collection of Sophie Isobel Designs brooches, including a series one of a kind scrap brooches.

Brooches all packed and ready to be sent to Udessi.

Make sure you head over to the wonderful Kirsty to join in the fun and show of your own creative space.

Hope you have had a love and creative Thursday! I'm off to find a blanket, brew a pot of tea and spend a few hours amongst the pages of my journal on one of Keri Smith's wonderful adventures. Just print off her wonderful list of 100 ideas, if you feel like an adventure too.

Much love and creative Thursdays
