My Creative Space..

Posted on 1:10 AM by fdgdfg
This week my creative space is more a whole stack of ideas in my mind rather than a chaotic desk. With only one more day until the weekend and I can't wait for some free time to mess up my studio and create some lovely Christmas decorations and work on my softie for Mirabel. But whilst I wait for a Saturday to arrive, I'm finding a few moments in my day to enjoy the lovely things in life, including a spot of crochet. As my ideas are yet to hit the page, my creative space this week contains my two new favourite things..

My favourite fabric, a recent purchase from Funky Fabrix and perhaps the most delightful and kooky shoes I own, my fabulous new pair of Tony Bianco ballet flats.

Join the creative space fun with the Queen of creativity Kirsty!

I hope your Thursday has been full of creativity and delightful moments. My thought for the day... take note of the little things.

Much Love

When Autumn and Spring Collide..

Posted on 1:31 AM by fdgdfg
As Autumn and Spring collide around the world I feel myself drawn to to wear beautiful warm brown tones and at the same time I am creating brooches in the prettiest of Spring pinks and greens. Oh how I love global inspiration! My weekend to bought moments of Autumn and Spring as I stocked up on some winter essentials, spent some much need down time on my granny squares, played with some beautiful Thea and Sami fabric and created a little collection of brooches inspired by tea sets and flowing Spring dresses.

Shades of Autumn- Getting ready for winter, new boots, scarves and vintage gloves

My little grannies are slowly growing in numbers...

My beautiful Thea and Sami fabric arrived in the mail.. The delightful Thea and I are joining forces and I'm so excited to create a collection of brooches using her amazing fabrics.

Inspired by English Muse's beautiful roses and delights of flowing dresses and the amazing work of Susan Southam, I couldn't help but celebrate mother's day with a little collection of girly petite brooches which are available in my Etsy shop now.

I loved the delightful blossoming Spring feeling so much I just had to continue it into the brooches for my Mother's Day giveaway.

To enter check out my giveaway post and leave me a message telling me a little something about a wonderful mother you know. The giveaway will be drawn on Friday the 15th at 8am.

My weekend was made complete when Dujour Magazine released their stunning Vintage Issue which I am so delighted to be featured in.

The whole magazine is full of stunning designers, artists and photographers, beautiful photo shoots and all round gorgeous vintage moments, I really am in some amazing company. It is a must to check out! To buy your own copy or subscribe to the environmentally friendly online version check them out at Dujour Magazine.

I hope you have enjoyed a lovely start to the week, I'm about to locate my scissors and curl up by the fire to cut fabric circles and flick through the latest Country Style magazine.

Much love, Autumn leaves and Spring Blooms

With frost comes blueberries and cold toes...

Posted on 2:41 AM by fdgdfg
So the news confirmed my suspicions... it's cold, really cold! And it's only April! After searching high and low for clothes to wear to work this morning I've decided that I'm not at all prepared for winter and the cold has sprung early! It is snowing in the mountains already and we are in for frosts here in the morning. A small excitement, whilst I try to regain feeling in my toes, is that with any luck my blueberries will fruit soon, so I can make yummy blueberry pie to keep us warm!

So I've done some hunting for my winter wish list and here is what I'm loving today...

Just gorgeous I think I might have to buy it - Vintage Mustard Trench Coat from ramonawest

Too cute and so very nerdy seamstress -Tapemeasure scarf by Knit and Destroy

And to keep my toes warm (and match the lovely trench) - Candy Stripe Mary Jane House Shoes by elephant and chickpea

I'm still searching for a pair on mid calf, small heeled, black, round toed boots. If you have see any on your travels please let me know, I'm getting desperate!

I'm off to curl up by the fire with tea and apple pie (while I await my blueberries) to make a lovely granny square or two. Check out my granny square adventures tomorrow in my creative space.

Much love and cozy blankets

Friday's new shoes..

Posted on 1:16 AM by fdgdfg
It's official, on Fridays I buy new shoes. It appears to be a reoccurring theme throughout my blog and today I have made it new ritual for Fridays. After our usual coffee and walk through the mall, my friend Joelene and I always end up at our favourite shoe shop. Today sitting on the sales table, the last pair, marked down so much I had to check the price three times were these lovelies....

How could I resist! Now my second pair of lovely red shoes these will certainly get a good workout over winter. Perhaps I should start a red shoe collection.

I just love Friday nights and as the rain continues to fall I'm getting ready for a delightful night in. I can't wait to get into my studio and make some new 'I heart' brooches. It feels like such a long time, I have many new things to heart.

I'm also looking forward to snuggling up by the fire with a pot of tea, my new Frankie magazine and my granny squares.

It feels like winter here today for the first time this year so I'm off to find some warm clothes and put the kettle on. Hope you Friday has been delightful, I'll be back in the morning with my Saturday Shopping List and a little shop update.

Much love and hooray for Fridays!

Lots to do, in ruby red shoes...

Posted on 12:25 AM by fdgdfg
It is indeed that fabulous day of the week again... the day a throw my handbag over my shoulder and skip out of work with two glorious days ahead of me. This afternoon my fabulous friend and shopping partner Joelene and I had our usual Friday catch up over tea and hummingbird cake and then made a beeline for our favourite little shoe shop. Our little venture was very successful.. I will let the shoes speak for themselves.. My very own ruby slippers.

Ruby T-bars from I love Billy. My third pair of this brand, I just adore them!
Now all I need is my own yellow brick road.

With the book shop next to the shoe shop its very hard to resist a little look through the some of my favourites for one can never have too many books. I always end up at the fabulous five dollar shelf of classics and found two little keepers.

I'm teaching Anne Bronte in Literature next term and only have a good copy so this will be perfect for notes and highlighting and a little James Joyce never goes astray on one's bookshelf.

As the sun goes down on this lovely Friday I'm settling in for a quiet night creating. I've been hanging out all week to just play amongst my felt and fabric, with so many ideas circling in my head. My students have even been suggesting phrases to me, my favourite this afternoon.. I heart Garden Gnomes.

Tools ready to get to work..

I've been very lucky this week to receive not one but two awards! A huge thank you to Hayley for the Kreativ Blogger Award and Sharon at Blossom for Unique and Chic. I'm so honoured to receive both of these awards and I'm very excited to pass them on to some very beautiful blogs. When you get the Kreativ Blogger award you are to list seven things you love, I think from all my brooches you know all the things I heart (if not go have a peak at my Etsy shop), so I will simply list the lovely people who I would love to give these awards to.

Kreativ Blogger Award
End of March
Emma Lamb
Gretchenmist
Tea For Joy
Ngaahi
Edward and Lilly
Gumball Grenade

Unique and Chic
The Inner Stitch
Hens Teeth
Shutter-Sweet
Two Pink Possums

Wishing you a wonderful Friday, hope it is full of all your favourite things! I'm off to begin dreaming up creations and find some fabulous Etsy creations for my shopping list in the morning.

Have a wonderful Friday

A weekend of love..

Posted on 10:23 PM by fdgdfg
It's been a delightful weekend of love all round.. everyone has really embraced the loving spirit. My hubby and I have shared a beautiful quiet few days together, with yummy food, late sleep ins and sharing our hopes and dreams for the future. We love to dream big and have spent the afternoon discussing our ideas for the perfect creative retreat, which includes my very own island complete with little row boat and the studio of my dreams. I just love to create these visions and put them out to the universe and on inspiration boards as I believe it's one step closer to bringing them to life.

These are all the fabulous things I'm loving this week:

My gorgeous new business cards! A big thanks to Phoebe and Jared for creating the beautiful design. I heart the round edges!

My very sweet new Mary Janes from I heart Billy

Yummy morning tea.. My homemade Valentine's Scones

I finally got a free moment to organise my tower of fabric.. I just wonder how long it will stay like that.

Image from weheartit
I've found my dream studio, now I just need my island.

With five more days left of my proceeds going to the Red Cross bushfire appeal I'm continuing to busily stock my little shop, keep an eye out over the next few days for more new brooches with come very quirky phrases. Here are a few of my favourites currently in stock..

A new design I've been working on the 'Jane Austen' cameo, more of these to come

I heart Wild Flowers

I heart Spring Days

I hope everyone has had a lovely weekend with your loved ones. Enjoy the last moments of Sunday, take a deep breath, smile and get ready for a new and amazing week.

Much love

Buying up for winter..

Posted on 1:31 AM by fdgdfg
After a week of six degree mornings I just had to go shopping this weekend for a few winter essentials. I just have to say, I know it might not be the most expensive or the best, but I had so much fun at Target. I got a pair of jeans, two lovely knitted tops, a cute little woolen dress and a pair of boots!

I'm really fussy with boots so I'm totally happy I found this pair
with a cute little heel and round toe.

Today I felt the urge to go to Spotlight and good thing I did because they had a great sale on and I got some really nice fabric that was buy a metre get one free!

I love both of these my favourite colours for winter mustard and eggplant. Hope to make some cute bags with these.

Inside fabrics also on sale!

My favourite of them all! I couldn't resist the sweet little mushrooms and the adorable cupcakes which I'm going to make into a little dress for Courtney (she is having a girl!)

Have had a lovely weekend, looking forward to a short week at work this week and a long weekend! Going to spend Friday sewing and filling the shop with lovely things. Very close to finishing the baby blanket I'm knitting for my sister in law, she was due yesterday so I have to knit like crazy the next couple of days while we wait to hear the good news.

Here is a random photo I took last night before I went out to dinner with some friends from work. I like the crazy chandelier in the background.

Happy weekend! Enjoy 'So you think you can dance' tonight! x

Saturday Shopping..

Posted on 11:56 PM by fdgdfg
Just had to show you my purchases for my shopping expeditions this morning..

First, I have been longing to grow lavender in my garden for years and the last time I attempted it the poor things died within a few days! But I am very persistent and it seems to grow really well in this area so Ben and I decided to plant some in the cute pots just outside our front door. Hopefully they grow big and lovely soon at the moment they look like this -

My other purchase, which I must admit makes my heart race just a bit are these absolutely adorable shoes. I am a bit of a shoe addict, I even have a whole shoe cupboard and these will make a lovely new addition to my collection.

I wanted something really cute and teacher like for winter and I think I did well with this pair!

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekends, tomorrow we are going for an 8km walk around the local billabong. I've got a thing for birds at the moment so I hope to find some interesting wildlife to photograph, might even become a fully fledged bird watcher!
