Recycled Notebooks..

Posted on 10:16 PM by fdgdfg
Three posts in one day! Must be some kind of record..

Well I think I am definitely leaning towards procrastination today, I've been busy just not doing things I should be doing, like preparing lesson for next week! On the up side though, I have finally come up with some way cute recycled paper notebooks!

I have been trying to think of a way to use all the left over printed paper that I don't use at work. I didn't want to throw it away and there is only so many bits of scrap paper you can have lying around so I decided to take some inspiration from Subu on Etsy who makes adorable notebooks from discarded printer paper.

So here they are, as I can't really draw or cut very staight I decided to give them material covers with felt inside. They almost look like little purses. These are prototypes, still trying to get the size right, but I hope to have some in the Jade and Isobel shop really soon!

So they are A5 size with 20 pages, half blank and half with some interesting printing, ready for scribbles, drawings and musings! Very happy with the way they have turned out!

Hope everyone is having a lovely day.. ttfn x

Record the Day..

Posted on 7:11 PM by fdgdfg
I know I have hundreds of things I should be doing, but instead I just can't seem to haul myself away from all these inspiring blogs and people I am finding! I just had to share this one special and unique blog with you.

I totally love creating things and recording life and have been endeavoring to journal for the last ten years. It has only been recently thanks to my bestie and dedicated writing partner Courtney that I have been really dedicated to writing everyday as we journey the year together with our moleskine journals.

Today I have been totally inspired to continue this long lost art form by an incredible creator Lobster and Swan who has recorded everyday of her life on index record cards and displayed them on her blog Record the Day.
Here are some of her unique creations. I would love to know where she stores them all.

Here's to creative people, may they inspire the world with scissors, glue and imagination! x

Miss Austen Treasury

Posted on 6:31 PM by fdgdfg
Note: I have transfered this from Sunday's blog as the link is no longer available but you can see my treasury right here! :)

As I am just a little bit obsessed with all things Jane Austen at the moment I wanted to share with you the Treasury I have curated on Esty. In a treasury you get to choose 12 artists work and show them together in a kind of online gallery. As it only lasts for three days (so others can have a turn), I've posted a copy of it, cause I think its cute! Hope you enjoy! I especially love the 'Fan Club' badges and the moleskine!

Happy Tuesday! x

Paper, Quills, Ink and a little Jane Austen..

Posted on 1:35 AM by fdgdfg
I thought I would share with you some of my recent purchases which I realised are all in the stationary category, surprise surprise!

I have been looking for vintage postcards for years so when I came across these at Rose Harvest Antiques at Irymple I could not believe my luck. Sue Clohesy the proprietor has an incredible collection of antiques and whole boxes of postcards! You need days to wander through the shop, I can't wait to go back!

This is my pride and joy, my search for a 'Jane Austen' quill has taken me across states and even countries and who would have guessed that I would find one right here in Mildura. The beautiful Frenchwares store Pleasantrees came up with the goods! Packaged in a little black box with chocolate brown ink, I'm in love! Now I just need to write a life changing romance novel with it!

I love holidays, its given me the chance to wonder around town and I came across our lovely little local scapbooking shop 'Scrapics'. I'm just loving the owls, car, horse shoe paper!

And while I'm talking about paper I thought I might introduce you to my new creation 'Olive'. I have been messing around with paper cut outs for a while and finally came up with a style I liked. This is 'Saturday Morning Market Olive'. She went down well with my six year old sister so I'm looking forward to making more and having a go at making a little book of her adventures. I just love her basket and little socks!

Well I best be off to watch So you think you can dance! How exciting! Hope you have had a relaxing weekend.. ttfn x

Inspired Interior Designing..

Posted on 12:10 AM by fdgdfg
After reading the latest Real Living magazine and pouring through Anna's blog I had a sudden burst of inspiration give my little lounge room a face lift. After running the slightly 'out there' colour scheme by husband and to my surprise getting the ok, I set about putting my ideas on paper, in my lovely moleskine journal...
After a quick trip to Spotlight and to the local cheap shop (trying to do it on a budget) I got sewing in my little little studio.
And I must say I'm very happy with the results, I made the cushion covers, table runner and black throw. I got really lucky with the throw fabric, it was discontinued so I got a metre free! I love a good bargain!

My husband and I got a bit creative with a few cheap canvases and created some 'abstract' art for the walls! I love white oriental lilies and I was really lucky to get these just before Easter and due to our crazy cold weather at the moment they have kept really well. I also love my brocade box, $6 at the cheap shop! Now all I have to do is keep it tidy!

Hope everyone has a lovely night!
Happy Friday x

Autumn Afternoons..

Posted on 11:31 PM by fdgdfg
Well this is my second first post in this blog, I created it some time ago but somehow like any journal I could not quite find the time nor the purpose for it. Now after moving state I realised it will be a wonderful way to keep everyone in touch with my crazy happenings and also I just want to share all the beautiful things I am inspired by. I suppose the first inspiration I must confess and the ultimate reason behind the recreation of this blog was stumbling across 'Absolutely Beautiful Things' a stunning blog by Brisbane interior and shop owner Anna Spiro. I just fell in love with her beautiful work and inspiration and must go to her shop when I'm up in Brisbane in June. Until then I will just sigh and enjoy her blog and only hope that one day mine can look as beautiful as hers. Be sure to check out the Beautiful Blogs I have mentioned, they are just fabulous and always put a smile on my face. Secretly I think its like shopping without having to spend any money.

So I hope to post at least twice a week, hopefully more although being a English teacher I find myself up to my ears in essays a great deal of the time but I hope next term (after the next week of lovely holidays) I can be a bit more organised and totally committed to finding lovely things for you to look at.

Whilst I resize pictures and sort out the odds and ends of this blog I will leave you with some photos I took yesterday at a lovely French inspired homewares shop and nursery 'Pleasentrees'. The gardens were just beautiful and I just had to take some photos. I just adore little gardens with wild roses and lavender, it looked like fairies could live there.

Much Love
xxx
